Photo: Miria-Sabina Maciagiewicz </figcaption></figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Swiss Institute in New York will move to a new address, purchasing premises at 250 Bowery.&nbsp;</p>\n\n\n\n<p>The non-profit institution has engaged architecture firm Johnston Marklee for a refurbishment of the 1,020 sqm space, with the new gallery opening in Spring 2027. The firm has a track record with arts organisations, recently commissioned by the like of MCA Chicago, The Menil Drawing Institute and Kunstmuseum Basel.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1986 by a group of Swiss expats at West 67th St, the Swiss Institute has been at its current rented East Village location since 2018. </p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current space at St Marks Place will be vacated after the current exhibitions by SoiL Thornton and Jiajia Zhang close 7 July and the new  headquarters will open with a group exhibition titled <em>The Environment</em>, which will draw inspiration from an artist-led, community-created project that unfolded in downtown New York between 1966-68.
