ART GALLERY TO OPEN SNACK BAR
TO ENABLE ART GALLERY visitors to obtain lunch and tea without leaving the galleries the Arts Council of Great Britain is organizing a snack bar and buffet at the New Burlington Galleries, Old Burlington Street, London, W.1. This experimental arrangement will come into force on September 11, when the next exhibition, of Modern British Pottery and Textiles, 1920-52, opens at the Burlington.
The buffet, which will be kept open during exhibition hours, 10-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10-6 on other weekdays, will be operated by Peter Merchant Ltd., the industrial caterers, and will serve hot and cold meals and snacks.
It will give business people in the West End an opportunity to visit the gallery during their lunch hour, or at tea time on their way home, without having to miss their food.
As it will also be available for parties the buffet will assist art societies and groups of students to mark celebration occasions suitably without having to bring in outside caterers.
The catering manager will be Mr. D. A. H. Osmond, formerly an officer in the Army Catering Corps.
