Art Basel has announced Karim Crippa as the new director of Art Basel Paris. He takes over from Clément Delépine, who established the fair’s Paris arm in 2022 before recently moving over to Lafayette Anticipations.
Crippa is currently Head of Communications for Art Basel Paris and Senior Editor at Art Basel. Born in Zurich, he has also worked at Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna, Haus der Kunst in Munich and Duve in Berlin.
Vincenzo de Bellis, Chief Artistic Officer and Global Director of Art Basel Fairs, said: ‘Karim combines a curator’s eye, a communicator’s precision, and a profound understanding of what makes Paris such a vital city for contemporary art. Over the past three years, he has been instrumental in articulating the fair’s identity and building trusted relationships across our ecosystem of galleries, institutions, and partners.’
Crippa will begin on 1 November 2025.
