Sri Lanka-based contemporary arts festival Colomboscope has announced Rhythm Alliances as the title for its ninth exhibition, to be held from 21 to 31 January 2026.
Chosen by guest curator Hajra Haider Karrar with artistic director Natasha Ginwala, the theme explores the varied dispositions of rhythm, from energising to haunting to turbulent. ‘Far more than a static exhibition, since experiencing rhythm-making is also an invitation for time travel, the acts in this edition assemble a communal score of creation, resistance and alliance-building’, Haider Karrar said in a statement.
The edition will bring together around 50 artists, musicians and filmmakers at venues across Colombo, and will draw ‘on a range of vocabularies embodying rhythms of remembrance, dissent, and renewal.’
