Dhaka Art Summit 2016

The Dhaka Art Summit, now in its third edition (you can read our report from 2014 here), is a curious hybrid beast (and all the better for it). A combination of biennial, symposium, festival and conference, all taking place in the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, this year it features nearly 300 artists, curators, and writers from South Asia and beyond. The strands are plentiful, from a performance programme cocurated by Nikhil Chopra to a series of critical writing workshops (including various ArtReview and ArtReview Asia contributors) and 17 solo projects, featuring 13 new commissions. The latter includes contributions by Lynda Benglis, Tino Sehgal, Shumon Ahmed, Tun Win Aung and Wah Nu, Simryn Gill, Waqas Khan, Shakuntala Kulkarni, Prabhavati Meppayil, Haroon Mirza, Amanullah Mojadidi, Sandeep Mukherjee, Po Po, Dayanita Singh, Ayesha Sultana and Christopher Kulendran Thomas, Munem Wasif and Mustafa Zaman. ArtReview Asia, as media sponsor, will there too.
