Chng Hak-Peng has been appointed the new CEO of the National Gallery Singapore, taking over from Eugene Tan.
Tan has led NGS for two years, having been director since 2013. In 2024 he was appointed to the concurrent role of CEO and director of the Singapore Art Museum, a position he will continue in.
Under Tan’s leadership NGS made its first major rehang since opening in 2015 and increased the focus on the art of Southeast Asia. He said, ‘As both museums enter a new phase of growth, I believe this is the right time for each to benefit from dedicated leadership, while I devote my energies to leading SAM through its next chapter.’
Chng was previously deputy chair and then CEO of the Singapore Symphony Group from 2014 to 2022.
