London’s Freud Museum has picked Anna Jobson as its new director.
Over the past 25 years, Jobson has held a range of leadership roles at institutions including Tate, Arts Council England and the University of the Arts London. Coming from a background in art history, she is currently studying Psychodynamic and Systemic Approaches to Consulting and Leadership at the Tavistock and Portman Trust/University of Essex.
Jobson will take over from Dan Feeney who has held the interim role since its former director, Giuseppe Albano, stepped down in May. Until 2026, Feeney will be supporting Jobson in overseeing the institution.
The announcement comes a month after the museum filed a Serious Incident Report to the Charities Commission, over claims of bullying and an intimidating atmosphere created by its board.
‘Anna joins us at a pivotal time’, Sue Prevezer, chair of the museum’s trustees, says in a statement, ‘as we build on a critically acclaimed exhibition programme whilst also reaching record numbers of further and higher education students, demonstrating the ongoing relevance of Freud’s work and the importance of the Freud Museum.’
