The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston has selected Nora Burnett Abrams as its new director. She will take over from Jill Medvedow, who has directed ICA Boston for 26 years.
Abrams joins from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, where she was director since 2019 and has worked in various capacities since 2009. As a curator, her credits there include retrospectives on Basquiat and Tara Donovan.
“Nora has an ambitious vision for programmatic excellence combined with cultural and civic relevance, and we look forward to bringing that vision to Boston,” ICA Boston’s board cochair Bridgitt Evans said in a statement.
Abrams will begin on 1 May 2025.
