Stefanie Hessler has been appointed curator of the upcoming MOMENTA/Biennale de l’image in 2021. Hessler is a curator and writer. Through her curatorial work, she ‘focuses on interdisciplinary processes, close and long-term collaborations with artists and researchers from different fields, and systems at large, be they ecological, economic, or societal.’ Since 2019, Hessler has been the director of Kunsthall Trondheim in Norway. As a writer, Hessler has edited numerous books and regularly contributes to publications such to ArtReview and Art-Agenda.
For MOMENTA, Hessler plans to ‘explore earth systems as narrators of their own logic’ under the title Sensing Nature. Additional members of the curatorial team who will work with Hessler to shape the programme will be announced closer to the biennial.
