New board members for Stedelijk Museum

The Municipality of Amsterdam has announced the appointment of four new members to the Stedelijk‘s supervisory board, after a troubled year for the institution since the the resignation of artistic director Beatrix Ruf in October 2017.

Ruf stepped down in the face of public controversy over her art-consultancy activities while director at the Stedelijk and potential conflicts of interest. However a subsequent investigation, published in June last year, dismissed those claims. Following its publication, three board members – Madeleine de Cock Buning, Rita Kersting and Jos van Rooijen – resigned from the board.

Truze Lodder, who was appointed as temporary chairman of the board in August, is now confirmed in that role. Van Rooijen returned to the board in September, and is now joined by Carla Aalse, Henriëtte Prast, Maarten Doorman and Homme ten Have. The board now have the task of finding a new artistic director, the post having remained vacant since Ruf‘s resignation.
