Guy and Myriam Ullens, the Belgian owners of Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, Beijing, have announced that they will be selling the art centre, The Beijinger reports. In addition to finding a buyer for UCCA, the Ullens’ plans to sell their collection of over 2,000 works of art at an auction later this year. About their decision to sell the centre, Guy Ullens said in a statement, ‘I’m now in my eighties and need to look at how to hand over the stewardship of the UCCA and my art collection to younger patrons of the arts.’ In the meantime, the director of UCCA May Xue has assured that the centre is to continue with its programming of events and exhibitions.
