Artist Sunil Das has died of a heart attack, aged 76, The Times of India reports. The youngest recipient of India’s National Award, the Shiromani Kala Puraskar, given while Das still a student, the artist was also awarded a scholarship to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. It was during this period that he visited Spain, where his life-long passion for horses and bulls was ignited.
Museums which hold works by Das include the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, the Glenbarra Art Museum, Japan, and the Ludwig Museum, Germany.
