Sotheby’s has bought the consultancy Art, Agency, Partners, run partly by a former executive of rival auction house Christies, The New York Times reports. The consultancy is managed by Amy Cappellazzo, former chairwoman of Christie’s postwar and contemporary-art development; art advisor Allan Schwartzman and Adam Chinn, co-founder of investment bank Centerview Partners and a former partner at the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
As part of Sotheby’s Art, Agency, Partners will head up a new fine-art division with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century art, with the aim of increasing profits, building private sales and growing its client base.
