Indonesia’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (MACAN), in Jakarta, has announced it will open its doors to the public in November 2017, reports Malay Mail Online. Indonesia’s first major museum for contemporary art appointed Aaron Seeto as its new director in November last year. Ahead of its November opening (which will coincide with the Jakarta Biennale and Biennale Jogja), March will see MACAN host a series of performances by Indonesian and international artists (MACAN First Sight) as well as lectures by academics and activists. The museum plans to open officially with an exhibition presented by curators Charles Esche and Agung Hujatnika, who will select 90 works from MACAN founder Haryanto Adikoesoemo’s art collection.
