Vanessa Baird has been announced as the winner of the NOK 500,000 Lorck Schive Art Prize 2015, Norway’s largest contemporary art prize, organised in collaboration between the Lorck Schive Trust and Trondheim kunstmuseum, Norway. The artist was chosen from a shortlist of four for her series of large-scale wall drawings titled I don’t want to be anywhere, but here I am, by an international jury comprising Raimundas Malašauskas (curator, Lithuania); Eline Mugaas (artist, Norway); and Jonathan Watkins (director Ikon Gallery, UK).
Baird’s work, alongside work by the other shortlisted artists, Ane Hjort Guttu, Jana Winderen and Snorre Ytterstad (who, along with Baird, each received NOK 150,000 to cover production costs for their exhibition work) can be seen through 28 February 2016 at the Lorck Schive Art Prize 2015: Finalist Exhibition at Trondheim kunstmuseum, Norway.
