The Cuban government returned Tania Bruguera’s passport on 10 July, six months after confiscating it following the artist’s attempted performance on Havana’s Plaza de la Revolucion, The Art Newspaper reports. However the artist and activist says on her facebook page #YoTambienExijo that she won’t be leaving Cuba right away, or at least not before she gets an official document ‘that legally guarantees [she] can return to Cuba without any problems’.

Two days later, on July 12, Bruguera was arrested again along with more than 40 activists known as the Damas de Blanco, who rally every Sunday for the civil and human rights of imprisoned Cuban dissidents, but was released hours later. Bruguera was also arrested in June after attending a similar Sunday rally.

13 July 2015.
