Susumu Yokota has died, an announcement by Leaf, the record label that issued six of experimental composer and electronic musician’s albums between 1999 and 2002, has confirmed. Yokota died in March, aged 54, after a long illness, but his family only released the news today. Among the 30 albums by Yokata, Sakura (2000) and Grinning Cat (2001) were among the best known. Prior to moving into experimental electronica Yokota had an established career in his native Japan as a house music producer.
