On Wednesday 13 April, the Senate implemented a ban on the import of almost all ancient art from Syria, The New York Times reports. Aimed at discouraging the trafficking and looting of these artefacts by ISIS, the bill will cut off an illegal trade which helps to finance ISIS’s military operations in the Middle East.
