The Minnesota philanthropic organisation Mary Livingston Griggs and Mary Griggs Burke Foundation has awarded a $2 million grant (approx. £1.4m) to New York’s Asia Society towards the development of their exhibition and education programmes.
The Mary Livingston Griggs and Mary Griggs Burke Foundation was named after the mother-daughter duo, who built one of the largest collection Japanese art, from the prehistoric to contemporary periods. Works from the collection will be included in the museum’s upcoming Kamakura: Realism and Spirituality in the Sculpture of Japan (9 February – 8 May).
