Ten months after leaving the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Nancy Spector is returning to the institution to take up the newly created position of artistic director, The New York Times reports. Spector had previously served at the Guggenheim for 29 years, occupying various positions, most recently as deputy director, as well as chief curator, before leaving to join the Brooklyn Museum in April 2016. Her new role will involve the ‘conceptual and strategic leadership of collections, exhibitions, and curatorial programs’ of the New York museum and its international satellites in Bilbao and Venice, and the planned outpost in Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on her decision Spector said: ‘It was about my realizing that it’s an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up given the number of years I’d already committed to the Guggenheim.’
