Curator and author Omar Kholeif has been named the new Manilow senior curator at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, The Chicago Sun-Times reports. Egyptian-born, Kholeif is a Senior Visiting Curator at Cornerhouse and HOME, Manchester, and Senior Editor of Ibraaz Publishing. Prior to that he led the Art + Technology programme at SPACE, London, was a curator at FACT, Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, Liverpool and artistic director at the Arab British Centre, London, where he founded and produced Safar: The Festival of Popular Arab Cinema, an award-winning film festival held at the ICA, London. Most recently, Kholeif was curator at the Whitechapel Gallery, London, where he also oversaw the Artists’ Film International program.
In addition to this new position, Kholeif has also been made visiting lecturer in the Division of the Humanities, in the Department of Visual Arts and the Department of Art History at the University of Chicago.
