Artists Eva and Franco Mattes, Bogosi Sekhukhuni and writer Porpentine Charity Heartscape have been announced as the winners of the fourth edition of the Net Art Prize, awarded annually to an artist producing work primarily or exclusively online.

Co-organised by Shanghai-based non-profit Chronus Art Center and Rhizome, the prize usually honours two artists (one winner receiving $10,000 and another artist receiving a $5,000 distinction). But this year, after much deliberation, the jury – comprising Zhang Ga, artistic director of Chronus Art Center; Lauren Cornell, curator at the New Museum; Christiane Paul, adjunct curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art; and Aria Dean, assistant curator of net art and digital culture at Rhizome – decided to recognise three recipients, each of whom will receive $5,000.
