Dutch-born, UK-based artist Magali Reus is the recipient of the 2015 Prix de Rome for the visual arts for her new work titled Leaves. She will receive €40,000 (approx. £30,000) as well as a residency at the American Academy in Rome. Her work, alongside that of the other three finalists (collective Foundland, Hedwig Houben and Christian Nyampeta) is on view at de Appel arts centre through 17 January.
Created in 1808 by Louis Napoleon, the Prix de Rome is the oldest and most important Dutch award for visual artists under 40. Since January 2013, the Mondriaan Fund has been responsible for the award.
