Nancy Spector has been appointed as chief curator of the Brooklyn Museum in New York, The New York Times reports. She will be joining the museum starting April 2016.
Spector comes from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, where she worked for the past thirty years or so, most recently as deputy director and chief curator. Commenting on this new appointment, and that of Anne Pasternak, who was recently appointed director of the museum although having no institutional experience, The NYT said ‘the museum is sending a strong signal that it is rethinking the conventions that have long guided many older art institutions.
