Abstract painter Mark Bradford will be representing the US at the 57th edition of Venice Biennale in 2017, The New York Times reports. Bradford, who founded Art + Practice (an organisation that brings art and social services to an underprivileged area in South Los Angeles), will create a new site-speciic installation for the pavilion that will seek to engage with the ‘collision of various events’ currently agitating the US, including issues like race, gay marriage, immigration and social justice. The director and curator at large of the the Rose Art Museum, Christopher Bedford and Katy Siegel, will be working alongside Mark Bradford to organise the pavilion, which will be on view on 13 May – 26 November 2017.
