South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced that Haegue Yang is to receive the Republic of Korea Culture and Arts Award in the visual arts sector. Other awards were given in the fields of General Culture, Literature, Music, and Theatre/Dance. Yang was selected for her overall contribution to contemporary Korean visual art. This year, Museum Ludwig in Cologne presented the artist’s first mid-career survey show titled Haegue Yang: ETA 1994-2018 and Yang, who also received the Wolfgang Hahn Prize in September, participated in both the 21st Biennale of Sydney and Liverpool Biennial. She currently has a solo exhibitions at La Panacée – MoCo in Montpellier (Chronotopic Traverses), which is on through 13 January 2019, and La Triennale di Milano (Haegue Yang: Tightrope Walking and Its Wordless Shadow) on through 4 November.
