The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN), Indonesia, has revealed the designs for it’s new building. The museum itself will be Indonesia’s first international modern art space spanning 4,000sqm, and is designed by London-based MET Studio whose clients have included Hong Kong Wetland Park, Edinburgh Zoo and Shanghai Astronomical Observatory. Around half of the museum will feature exhibition spaces whilst the rest will house an education zone, amenities and an indoor sculpture garden.
Indonesian art collector and philanthropist Haryanto Adikoesoemo has funded the design and construction of the museum and appointed Dr. Thomas Berguis as director. Museum MACAN is set to open in Jakarta in early 2017.
