Prospect.5, New Orleans’s contemporary art biennial, has revealed the list of 51 participating artists for its ten-year anniversary edition. The biennial will take place from 24 October 2020 to 24 January 2021 in museums, cultural spaces and various public sites across the city, and feature new commissions by artists including Simone Leigh, Candice Lin, Josh Kun and Neighborhood Story Project.
Curated by Naima J. Keith and Diana Naw under the title Yesterday we said tomorrow, the biennial will reflect on how the city and the sociopolitical context has changed since the first edition of the biennial in 2010, in the post-Katrina context. With a predominantly African-American artist list, the biennial will also explore African diasporas in the context of the city, notably through works by Willie Birch, Mark Bradford, Dave McKenzie, Wangechi Mutu and Nari Ward.
