Madame Tussauds will be dedicating an ‘artistic themed zone’ to Yayoi Kusama at its Hong Kong location, The Art Newspaper reports. The display aims to show elements of Kusama’s trademark aesthetic motifs; a room decorated with black polka dots on a yellow background, a giant pumpkin will hang at the entrance and an installation of parallel mirrors with lighting effects set to imitate the Japanese artist’s hugely popular Infinity Rooms. Kusama, whose wax likeness will be wearing a polka dot dress, has said ‘I hope everyone who passes through Madame Tussauds Hong Kong can fully embrace the positive energy evoked by the zone’. It is hoped that the new display, which will open on 3 November, will ‘invite visitors to experience the concept of self-obliteration’.
