The Siddhartha Arts Foundation, based in Kathmandu, Nepal, has announced the inaugural edition of the Kathmandu Triennale, set to open on 24 March 2017. Titled The City: My Studio / The City: My Life, the Triennale is curated by Belgian curator Philippe Van Cauteren. Van Cauteren has invited over 50 artists from more than 25 countries to take the city as their inspiration, ‘a laboratory to generate artistic forms, gestures, acts, ideas, art works’.
The Triennale emerges from two previous editions of the Kathmandu International Arts Festival in 2009 and 2012, and this new format reflects a change in scale and ambition to include a greater number exhibitions and a more extensive programme. Occupying multiple venues in the cities of Kathmandu and Patan, KT2017 will also host educational projects in public spaces and collateral events organised by partner institutions including S.M.A.K. Ghent, Belgium.
KT2017 will run from 24 March – 9 April 2017. See here for more details and full artists list.
