The inaugural Sharjah Architecture Triennial, the first major convention of its kind in the Middle East, will open on 9 November.
Taking for its theme the ‘Rights of Future Generations, the triennial will be based at two recently decommissioned public buildings: Al-Qasimayah School and Al Jubail Vegetable Market. Curated by Adrian Lahoud, it aspires to ‘address specific conditions across the Global South in relation to architecture, colonialism and environment’.
The exhibition will open with a weekend of performances, forums and summits and run to 8 February, 2020.
