The Greek art collector and patron Dimitris Daskalopoulos is to receive the Leo Award from Independent Curators International. The award is named after the dealer Leo Castelli. Daskalopoulos made his money through Viviartia, the Greek foodstuffs company, using it to fund a collection comprising of over 500 works by 170 artists, including Matthew Barney, Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst, Mike Kelley, Paul McCarthy, and Kiki Smith. He sits on the Board of Trustees of the Guggenheim, the \nLeadership Council of the New Museum and the Tate International Council.
