Shanghai’s Rockbound Art Museum and Hugo Boss have announced the finalists for this year’s Hugo Boss Asia Art award, a RMB 300,000 (£35,000) prize supporting emerging artists from Greater China and Southeast Asia. They are: Hao Jingban (China), Hsu Che-Yu (Taiwan), Eisa Jocson (Philippines) and Phan Thảo Nguyên (Vietnam).
The artists were selected by an international jury chaired by the Rockbund’s director Larys Frogier, and comprising artist Cao Fei;
Patrick D. Flores, artistic director, Singapore Biennale; Gridthiya Gaweewong, director, the Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok; Sunjung Kim, president, the Gwangju Bienniale Foundation, Seoul; Carol Yinghua Lu, director, the Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum
Work by all shortlisted artists will be included in an exhibition at the Rockbound, scheduled to run from 18 October to 15 December. The winner will be announced in November.
