The New York non-profit Artists Space has been forced by its landlord, Zar Properties, into a four-month closure of their 38 Greene Street location in order to build a 12,000 square-foot office penthouse expansion atop of the landmark building. The executive director and curator of the space Stefan Kalmár said he wasn’t communicated any clear timeframe for the interruption by the landlords, nor any offer to compensate the nuisance – the Cameron Rowland exhibition, scheduled to open this September, will be delayed by at least four months.
Offices at 38 Greene Street will remain open, as well as Artists Space Books & Talks, the venue’s other location at 55 Walker Street.
