Vasif Kortun, the director of SALT, Istanbul, will be stepping down from his role in early 2017, Art Asia Pacific reports. It is thought that Kortun, who has been director of the institution since 2011, will time his departure with the reopening of the SALT Beyoğlu building which was shuttered in January 2016 following an anonymous complaint filed with the prime minister’s office regarding the renovation of the space. The associate director of research and programs, Meriç Öner (who developed projects on the histories of urbanism, design and architecture primarily in Turkey), is expected to take up the position of director upon Kortun’s departure.
