Paul Schimmel has left the Los Angeles outpost of Hauser & Wirth, Hauser Wirth & Schimmel, less than a year after the gallery opened, according to the Los Angeles Times. Schimmel, who was previously chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, had joined the mega-gallery in 2013, after his departure from MOCA in 2012. In a brief statement on Friday, the gallery announced that Schimmel would “no longer serve as director, partner, and vice president of the gallery”. The gallery has made no further comment.
