Michael Wellen has been appointed as curator, international art at Tate. Since 2011 Wellen has been assistant curator of Latin American and Latino Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, prior to which he was researcher and writer with the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, Texas. Wellen holds a BA in History and Anthropology from Rutgers University and an MA and PhD in Modern and Contemporary Art with a focus on Latin America, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He will take up the post in December.
