João Ribas has been named the new director of Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto. He assumes his new position having previously worked as deputy director and chief curator of the museum. Before joining Serralves, Ribas was a curator at the MIT List Visual Arts Center in Boston and the Drawing Center in New York. In his previous role at Serralves Museum, Ribas organised retrospectives for Helena Almeida, Gordon Matta-Clark and Michael Krebber. Last year he curated the Ural Industrial Biennial for Contemporary Art. As director of the museum, Ribas replaces Suzanne Cotter, who has joined the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean as its new director.
