Curator, writer, and occasional ArtReview contributor Justin McGuirk has been appointed as chief curator of the Design Museum in London. Working with the exhibition team, one of his main responsibility will include the opening programme for the institution’s new home in Kensington, due to open in late 2016
McGuirk was recently named head of the writing and curating programme at Design Academy Eidhoven, in addition to his position as director of Strelka Press. Previous roles include design critic at The Guardian, the editor of Icon magazine and the design consultant to Domus. In 2012 he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture for an exhibition he curated with Urban Think Tank. His book Radical Cities: Across Latin America in Search of a New Architecture is published by Verso.
