This September, 70 large-scale monochromatic works by the British landscape artist and Artist Associate of the National Gallery John Virtue will be placed across the floors of Fortnum & Mason in London. The exhibition is a continuation of the store’s annual artistic collaboration with art collector Frank Cohen, which draws from his wide-ranging collection of international modern and contemporary art. This will be the first time since Virtue’s 2005 exhibition at the National Gallery that an extensive collection of his work will be on display. A statement on the exhibition states: ‘Virtue’s practice is continually informed by natural environments and his geographical moving from Lancashire to Devon, to London, and now to Norfolk.’ The show is curated by Robert Upstone, former director of the Fine Art Society and head of Modern British Art at Tate Britain. Fortnum’s x Frank coincides with London Design Festival and Frieze Art Fair.
Fortnum’s x Frank will be on display at Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly, 10th September – 20th October.
