EYE Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, has announced Wang Bing as the winner of the 2017 EYE Art & Film Prize. Created in collaboration with the Paddy & Joan Leigh Fermor Arts Fund, the prize supports filmmakers and artists whose works contribute to the relationship between art and film practice. Wang Bing was chosen for his body of work which includes documentary, video-installation and feature film, and which often focuses on the transformations taking place in Chinese society. He will receive £25,000 to help fund new work. In 2018, EYE will host an exhibition of Wang’s work, alongside previous winners Hito Steyerl (2015) and Ben River (2016).
