The president of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and French president François Hollande will lead an international summit on culture and terrorism, The Art Newspaper reports. The conference will bring together ministers and cultural heritage experts in an attempt to ‘enable the creation of a global fund for endangered heritage’. Hollande has also said he hopes to open ‘shelters for cultural goods before they could be attacked or sacked, and record the memory of cultural sites, using all forms of media, to keep them alive and restore them one day’.
The summit is planned to take place in December in Abu Dhabi, when the Louvre Abu Dhabi is due to be completed.
