Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art have announced that Sarah Munro will succeed Geoffrey Worsdale as its new director.
Munro has 20 years arts leadership experience including as artistic director of Glasgow’s Tramway and head of arts for Glasgow city, where her responsibilities have included Glasgow International Festival, the Gallery of Modern Art’s temporary exhibitions programme and the Merchant City Festival.
Munro has also been instrumental in the initiation and co-production of Generation, 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland, the major series of exhibitions shown in 2014 at over 60 venues celebrating a generation of internationally renowned artists including Richard Wright, Simon Starling, Martin Boyce, Cathy Wilkes, Douglas Gordon, Christine Borland, Claire Barclay, Michael Fullerton and Duncan Campbell.
Munro will take up the post in November.
