Artist Maryse Goudreau has been announced as the recipient of the first Prix Lynne-Cohen. Set up by the estate of artist Lynne Cohen in collaboration with the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec (MNBAQ) and its foundation, the new biennial award seeks to supports artists from the Québec region, whose work encompasses photography. As the winner, Goudreau will receive a $10,000-cash prize, which will go towards supporting her practice.
Goudreau was selected by a jury of five, including: Audrey Genois, director general, Momenta. Biennale de l’Image; Mona Hakim, art historian, critic and commissioner; Daniel Fiset, art historian and curator; Martin Boisseau, artists and lecturer at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy; and Eve-Lyne Beaudry, chief curator in contemporary art at the MNBAQ.
