Named after the 54 countries on the African continent, this inaugural 1:54 fair, dedicated to modern and contemporary African Art, includes work by over 70 artists from 15 selected galleries, among them Meschac Gaba, whose Museum of Contemporary African Art was recently acquired by Tate, Sokari Douglas Camp, Sammy Baloji and Edson Chagas, whose work featured in Angola’s 2013 National pavilion at Venice and which won this year’s Golden Lion. The fair, founded by Touria El Glaoui and designed by architect David Adjaye, will feature a panel of lectures and discussions featuring Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Otobong Nkanga, Olafur Eliasson and others.
