Coinciding with her solo show at London’s ROKEBY gallery, British artist Abigail Reynolds will present two short films as starting points to a wider discussion on her practice, with writer and curator Ben Borthwick.
Using found images and books from archives, Reynolds creates collages and sculptures in which she intuitively folds, assembles and connects these elements, in turn generating new narratives through aesthetic coincidences. In her current exhibition, 8 / ∞, Reynolds has been expanding the formats of her work to engage with the architectural space of the gallery, further exploring the concept of place and our interaction with our surroundings.
Abigail Reynolds graduated from Goldsmiths in 2002. In 2013 she completed a two-year residency with Rambert Dance, which culminated in Double Fold a performance at Rambert’s new home on the South Bank. Other recent solo exhibitions include Ein Zeit-Punkt, Raum Mit Licht, Vienna, 2013; First Light, Plymouth College of Art, 2013; and A Common Treasury, Ambach and Rice, Los Angeles, 2012.
