For a project with Gucci, ArtReview’s editors in London and Seoul wrote, directed and produced a seven-minute film introducing a high-profile museum exhibition at the Daelim Museum in Seoul, sponsored by the Italian fashion brand Gucci, and focused on the contemporary art scene in Korea.
No Space, Just A Place was a largescale exhibition at the Daelim Museum in Seoul, powered by Gucci and its Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s reflections on ‘eterotopia’, and curated by the Renaissance Society’s incoming executive director Myriam Ben Salah. The exhibition saw ten of the city’s independent art spaces sharing a platform with five international artists to explore the catalytic value of creative disruption and offer a vision of brave new worlds.
Narrated by ArtReview’s Seoul-based editor, the ArtReview film established a three-decade sweep of art history, included interviews with artists and the curator and referenced the involvement of the client’s creative director in the conception of the exhibition.
Hosted permanently on the ArtReview website, with extended home-page run for maximum exposure of the project, ArtReview’s global reach ensured both local knowledge and international impact for the exhibition, allowing viewers to tour the show and meet the people, artworks and experimental practices that made it happen.
No Space, Just a Place included works by Meriem Bennani, Olivia Erlanger, Cécile B. Evans, Kang Seung Lee and Martine Syms, shown alongside projects curated by some of Seoul’s alternative art spaces. The exhibition was a celebration of both the local and the global, via the social, cultural and creative forces that transform space into place.
