Yasmil Raymond will be leaving her posts as Rector of the Hochschule für Bildende Künste–Städelschule and Director of Portikus in July 2024, after succeeding Philippe Pirotte in 2020.

Raymond was the ‘first non-European and first female’ to hold these positions. In her time, she devised and implemented long-term plans for the Städelschule, including a strategic fundraising plan and diversifying the institution’s programming by forming new connections with cultural workers across South America, the Antilles, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

‘I am stepping down at a time when, for the first time, the Städelschule and Portikus are financially stable and have a solid team and exceptional staff,’ Raymond said in a statement. ‘I am confident that the new Rector will build on the strong commitment to equality, equity and the spirit of collaboration that has characterized my tenure.’
