The director of Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Clare Lilley, has stepped down after helming the institution for three years, the institution announced on Tuesday.

Lilley joined the institution more than three decades ago, working first in a range of curatorial positions before becoming its director of programme. Taking over from YSP’s founding director Peter Murray in 2022, she staged exhibitions by Ai Weiwei, Amar Kanwar, Bharti Kher, Giuseppe Penone and Yinka Shonibare. Her concluding exhibition of William Kentridge will be on view through 19 April 2026.

From 2012 to 2022, Lilley was curator of Frieze Sculpture at London’s Regent’s Park. Currently she is a board member of George Rickey Foundation in New York and the Jupiter Artland Foundation in Edinburgh.

As YSP’s board of trustees searches for a new director, Kevin Rodd, the deputy director, will serve the interim role.
