Visitors to museums, galleries and art fairs in New York will need to provide evidence of a COVID-19 vaccine – the requirement is effective immediately though will not be enforced until 13 September. Proof of vaccination includes a photo or hard copy of a vaccination card.
The rules are included in new regulation around public facilities including gyms, zoos, performance and entertainment venues. ‘We believe, if we take these aggressive measures, this is going to encourage a lot of people – audience members and staff alike – to get vaccinated,’ mayor Bill de Blasio said of the ‘Key to NYC’ initiative.
Last month, Italy and France announced similar requirements for museum visitors, requiring attendees to have a pass documenting vaccination or a recent negative test.
